Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event Photo Gallery

Although there were no spectators this year, a last-minute rush of grassroots donations proved enough to rescue the fan favorite Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event from a second straight cancellation due to COVID.

Click to read our full coverage of dressage day one, dressage day two, the cross-country and Sunday’s final jumping round and placings from this year’s event.

The following are some of the great photos from MacMillan Photography’s team on the ground that we couldn’t fit into our daily stories. Enjoy!

New Zealand’s Tim Price riding Xavier Faer on the CCI5* course. The pair took second at the event. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
Boyd Martin and his gold-medal partner from the 2019 Lima Pan American Games, Tsetserleg, galloped strongly down the long side to slide into fourth at the end of the CCI5* dressage phase. Photo by Sarah E. Miller/MacMillan Photography.

New Zealand’s Jonelle Price and Grovine de Reve jumped clear with only 0.4 time faults which was good enough for third in the CCI5* division right behind her husband Tim, who took second on Xavier Faer. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
Eventual winners Oliver Townend and Ballaghmor Class (GBR) in the CCI5* inspection. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
Tamra Smith and EnVogue (USA) finished second in the CCI4* division. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
Third in the CCI4* after cross-country was Canada’s Colleen Loach and Vermont. Photo by MacMillan Photography.
Although the 2021 Land Rover Kentucky Three-Day Event did not have the usual massive trade fair, sponsor’s village and food court, there was a small shopping alley near the stabling. Photo by Allen MacMillan.

New Zealand rider Jonelle Price’s mount Grappa Nera had an entourage taking care of her in the vet box after her run on cross-country. Photo by MacMillan Photography.
Canada’s Colleen Loach and Vermont jump a ditch on course in the CCI4* at Land Rover Kentucky. They finished the competition in fourth. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
The U.S.A.’s Boyd Martin and On Cue, who were second after cross-country, had an unfortunate rail down to drop them to fourth place, still a good result for a young mare in her first CCI5*. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
Elisabeth Halliday-Sharp and Cooley Moonshine (USA) on course in the CCI4* cross-country; they finished third in the division. Photo by Jen Emig/MacMillan Photography.
Doug Payne (USA) and Vandiver on the CCI5* cross-country. They took 12th in the division. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
Great Britain’s Harry Meade rode Superstition around the CCI5* course late in the order when the rain had diminished the quality of the footing and the weather was cold and damp. Still, the pair made the time and had no jumping penalties on cross-country. A rail in show jumping cost them a place and they finished fifth. Photo by Allen MacMillan.
