Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron is the founder and executive director of the North American Racing Academy (NARA). NARA teaches students under the Kentucky Community and Technical College System who want to become a licensed jockey, trainer, exercise rider or groom in the Thoroughbred industry. McCarron rode at the highest levels of racing from 1974 until his retirement in 2002. He piloted Alysheba and Go for Gin to wins in the Kentucky Derby, in addition to winning five Breeders’ Cup Classics (two of them aboard Tiznow).
