Off-track Thoroughbreds (OTTB) are beloved partners for show, sport, pleasure riding and companionship. If you’re lucky enough to have one of these equines in your life, the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center (MMSC) wants to know about it.
The MMSC is a reschooling and adoption facility for Thoroughbreds located at the Kentucky Horse Park. The center showcases the immense talent and athleticism of these horses, educating the public about all that they have to offer.
In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, the MMSC has launched the “How Lucky Am I?” contest/fundraiser. This is a chance for owners and riders of Thoroughbreds to show the world how much fun these horses can be.
To enter, contestants make a donation of at least $5 to the MMSC and submit a photo of themselves with their Thoroughbred along with their own completion to the sentence, “How lucky am I to have a Thoroughbred who…” Donations can be made at www.secretariatcenter.org/donate. Photos and captions must be submitted via email to mmsecretariatcenter@gmail.com or via private message to the MMSC Facebook page. Entrants can submit multiple photos with a $5 donation for each entry.
All of the entries received will be posted on the MMSC Facebook page. Winners will be selected based on a combination of the opinions of a judging panel and the number of “likes” received. Bonus points for St. Patrick’s Day themed entries! Prizes will be awarded to the top five submissions.
Click here to view the full rules and prize info. The deadline for entries is noon EDT on Sunday, March 16, and winners will be announced at noon on St. Patrick’s Day.
