Adoptable Horse: ARH Royal in Emerald, a 17-year-old 14.2hh grade mare Organization: ASPCA Equine Transition and Adoption Center, El Reno, Okla.
This special gal is rightly named, as you will never tire of gazing at her beauty. Emerald is approximately 17 years old and is a petite, stock-type mare who is ready to be your partner. She is building up her trust to be easily caught in pasture, and once she is haltered, she is a joy to work with. Emerald is very safe to tie, groom and lead, and she would adore having admirers of all ages dote on her with treats, scratches and kind words.
Emerald has communicated that she is not comfortable with a rider, both from a training and medical point of view. It appears that she has never held a rider in the past and the ASPCA’s vet believes that she may have had a previous injury to her pelvis that didn’t heal properly. However, this won’t stop her from becoming your best friend. Emerald promises to listen intently, keep all your secrets, and turn any bad day into a great day through the connection you’ll share.
Emerald is a healthy gal who does not need any additional support besides routine maintenance such as trims, vaccines, teeth, etc. She’s currently on free choice pasture and hay along with senior feed.
