Welcome to Horse Illustrated’s weekly installment of the Right Horse Adoptable Horse of the Week, offered in partnership with the ASPCA’s Right Horse program. This week’s adoptable horse is Lady Witha Secret! Check back weekly for a new featured horse so you can find your Right Horse.
Adoptable Horse: Lady Witha Secret, a 20-year-old 16.1hh Thoroughbred mare
Organization: Second Stride, Prospect, Ky.
20-year-old Thoroughbred mare Lady Witha Secret last raced in 2010. Second Stride was not told of any injuries. She had her last foal in 2014, but she is no longer breedable.
Lady is a lovely mare that has adjusted well to her new life. She took back to being under saddle well, but will need a few rides to really settle and be comfortable with what is being asked of her. She moves soundly across the ground and has a nice way of going. She will be suitable for trails only due to her age. She isn’t yet ready to be a child’s or husband horse; she will require an intermediate rider at this time to help her settle in under saddle.
Lady is quiet in her stall and while out with her friends. She is easy to work with, has respect for her handlers, and she stood well for the vet. They have not seen any vices from her.
