Welcome to Horse Illustrated’s weekly installment of the Right Horse Adoptable Horse of the Week, offered in partnership with the ASPCA’s Right Horse program. This week’s adoptable horse is Croissant! Check back weekly for a new featured horse so you can find your Right Horse.
Adoptable Horse: Croissant, 14-year-old 9hh pinto miniature horse mare
Organization: West Virginia Horse Network, Elkview, West Virginia
Croissant started out as a nervous and skeptical little gal. She is now learning to overcome her fears in her foster home being handled by numerous people throughout the week as part of the barn activities. Croissant is willing to learn and try. She has had evidence of a hind luxating patella and likely would be best as a pet or companion and not for riding. She has a fly allergy that will need to me managed. She was initially difficult to catch but she has been working on that and is now able to be caught by a beginner handler. The ideal applicant will have some basic horse experience. We’d love to place Croissant as a pet for an adult/teen or preteen. Croissant will not be suitable for very small children.
