These tips are extremely important to follow when horse shopping. If you are looking for an inexpensive horse, do go with the older well-behaved horse. Also you will find the occassional horse that an owner will unload cheap because it is so overly mixed as to be unattractive to the average professional rider. One of the best trail horses at my old riding school was a Quarter mixed with Thouroughbreed and a bit of draft horse. I am not making that up. She was better well mannered than the pure horses on the ranch and my favorite by far, although getting a saddle to fit her wide back was a challenge.
I thought the article was very helpful, seeing as I am looking for my first horse now. It definetly can help experienced and inexperienced buyers.

I was impressed with your article and am going to apply said suggestions to a rescued horse that I have been watching at one of the organizations for rescued horses here in Colorado. He is an older gelding but has a good temperment. He is in pasture so I'll heed your advice on how he reacts to being caught. Thanks.
