Friesians are also very good horses for children, Despite their huge size, a friesian that is properly trained makes a excellent childrens mount. Tho mainly used for dressage freisians can be versatile in many ways and they have a great personality and are beautiful!
I absolutely think you are right about all of this. You must know what your talking about. thanks for the info on welsh pony.
I don't think that there is such a thing as a kids horse, or bombproof horse, those are marketing terms, but the most gentle breeds are the Morgan, and the Tennessee Walking Horse hands down! Draft horses are very sweet, but a kid could never even get on one without help, they are just too huge. Morgans will work tirelessly to please you without complaint, and are capable of so much, they even have a smooth gait, though it is slower than the Walker's gaits. We lost our Morgan a couple of years ago and it was a very sad day, a couple of generations of kids learned to ride on ole Hollywood Star, we called her old faithful! We now have 5 Tennesse Walkers and they are very sweet too and enjoy learning new things. They are very agile and athletic and aim to please! But picking a horse has to come down to the horse, even gentle breeds have problem horses and mishandled horses.I don't understand why people keep calling Quarter horses a calm gentle breed, because they are simply not a calm horse by nature! I know lots of people who have them and have rode several over the years and they are high strung and give a very bouncy ride which is also not good for kids! I'm not saying there aren't good quarter horses out there, they are just not gentle as a breed! The time you put in with your horse is the most important thing, if you handle them regularly with respect, while making sure they show you respect, you'll be amazed at what you can achieve together! Good luck with your equine friends!
Clydesdale are good horses for children, they are very sweet but they person who made this probably didn’t put them in here because of how big they are, a child wouldn’t be able to mount a huge horse like that, although they are very sweet and kind horses. My aunt owns a farm and she has several draft horses, she actually gave me one and her name is daisy. She is very sweet and east to steer and control, but she was also trained very good by my aunt and the previous owner before my aunt had her, so.
