I loved the article! I have a old cardboard stand up of Roy Rogers that I hope soon will be in my renovated "western" basement get away. I've LOVED Palomino horses since I was in the 4th grade and wrote a story about,King,my dream horse. I bought my first Palomino, in 1974. I raised one from birth,Sport, who lived for 20 years. When he died,it took me 2 years to get over it before I could even think about another Palomino. I did get another one though, even though these days I can't ride. I'm 64 years "young" BUT will never loose my love of golden borses!!!
My condolences to your "youth" and that you won't be able to ride. Pretty much in the same circumstances now. I hope you are doing well after 3 years and staying young!
My palomino, Docs or Goldie Docs is a AQHA built forintuitive, trail savvy and so gold that she glistens. What a wonderful partner!
I had a pinup of Roy and Trigger on my wall. When I was 13, a horse down at the nearby stables had a case of strangles. He was a mount ember of the Palomino Sheriff's Posse, and the deputy told me if I would care for him through the strangles, that I could ride him when he was well. I was there morning and night to care for Goldie. We had two years of adventure together. When we moved to a farm, my brother bought me a gorgeous palomino..Off Track Quarter Horse. I taught him what I thought were good tricks for parading, but learned later that they were intricate dressage movements! He was not a nice horse, and not one bit friendly, but he was the love of my life. I have owned 12 horses, and Serendipity was by far my favorite, bad boy that he was.
