2008 Photo Contest Honorable Mentions

The following pictures, in no particular order, received honorable mentions from our judge, world famous professional equine photographer Bob Langrish. Click here for Bob’s photography tips >>

Mary Miller-Jordan of Kelly, N.C.
Bob’s comments: “This is a great concept, but it would have been more enhanced if you used a telephoto lens instead of a wide-angle lens, and stuck the person [and horse] in the middle.”
Barry Henry of Louisiana
Bob’s comments: “This is being in the right place at the right time and having a great camera. You can’t plan this picture.”
Lori Grimes of St. Cloud, Minn.
Bob’s comments: “This is a great picture. I hope you didn’t get run over, as I see you used a wide-angle lens. The photo is sharp and has impact.”
Beth Wieland of Plano, Texas
Bob’s comments: “I try to get this position myself when I’m taking mare and foal pictures. It takes a lot of patience. Well done.”
Brooke Hall of Columbus, Ohio
Bob’s comments: “Great lighting, but the picture would have been better if the horse was coming toward the camera.”
Shannon Albert of Denison, Texas
Bob’s comments: “This picture has a terrific ‘awww’ factor.”
Rebecca Mogielski of New Brighton, Pa.
Bob’s comments: “I love the carrot as the snowman’s nose idea to get the shot. I might use it myself. Good use of the flash to get [proper] exposure.”
Lois Overton of Thetford Ctr., Vt.
Bob’s comments: “This is a lovely picture. It’s the type I try to get. If only the sun had been shining.”
Kelly Kassander of Mequon, Wis.
Bob’s comments: “This is a great reflection picture–very sharp and evenly balanced.”
Karen Smith of Church Hill, Tenn.
Bob’s comments: “This is a very dramatic silhouette picture.”
