Honestly these questions are stupid--why wouldn't the person ask their vet instead of waiting and asking on the internet?
Tack Lover-Most of these people probably have asked their vet these questions, but want more information, maybe a second opinion in some cases, and so seek Horse Illustrated's advice. It really is not stupid at all, only a sign of a responsible horse owner who wants as much understanding of their horse's issue as they can posssibly get to aid them in caring for their horse.
One of my horses has severe enough chronic anaemia that he has to have red blood cell shots every month. I had no idea it was so rare!
STILL trying to figure out why or what the cause for wt loss and anemia in my Quarter Horse -- Ten yr old mare in foal for a Feb. 25 foal----- Very puzzling ? All other mares are fat and sassy.!.
I have the a TWH that is 20yo and he has cronic anemia. We have run blodwork 4 times and still the same. Whats puzzling is that I noticed the muscle loss and is unalble to get it back in 6 months of trying. So the vet and I are going to rum more tests. What else can you do?
