I don't like to shave my horse, I think all the hair she was born with should stay with her except for her bridle path. That is the only thing that should be shaved. I did like the article though.
Good info, but Im wanting to clip my mare only in the spring and summer. She sweats alot and it dosent take much to start it .She a hot Quarter horse in more than one way shes allways been.I was thing maybe it would keep her alittle cooler, but I sure dont wont to mess up her coat.sinerly Justine
Great article, very informative! But I have a question. My horse has cushings and didn't shed out well before she was on medication for the cushings and I body clipped her 2 years in a row. But now she is on medication and she sheded better but not completely. Is this because of the body clipping in previous years or the cushings? And what should I do this year. Do I have to clip her or should I not and if I don't will she still grow a good healthy winter coat? I live in North Jersey and she needs her winter coat. Thank you in advance for your opinion. Linda
