Horse Illustrated Recognized at the 2022 AHP Equine Media Awards

Horse Illustrated magazine has a lot to be proud of after receiving multiple American Horse Publications (AHP) Equine Media Awards for material published in 2021 during the Back to the Bluegrass Conference on Saturday, May 14, 2022, in Lexington, Ky. Awards included a first place for Horse Illustrated in the Service to the Horse Industry Single Article category.

“It takes a lot of thought and planning to partner with our fantastic freelancers on every issue, so first and foremost I want to thank them for helping to shape the direction and quality of our publication,” said Editor in Chief Holly Caccamise. “Receiving recognition in the form of AHP awards is such an exciting way to confirm that our content is of the highest caliber.”

The judges shared the following comments about Horse Illustrated’s first-place award for the article “Help for Hard-Working Equines” by Kim MacMillan, which was about the organization Brooke USA:

“An eye-opening piece of journalism about a noble effort. It is good to present the plight of equines in the developing world with matter-of-fact writing, describing the history of the cause without resorting to sensationalism. It is still a sad story, but one with a hopeful ending thanks to the organization so well portrayed.”
