I love having my horses at home. I love waking up and heading to the barn. I spend more time with my horses and there is no drama that comes with boarding. Also, I can control fly issues and deworming ... etc My barn my rules :)
In the long run having your horses at home is cheaper, and better for the horse, but not everyone can do it. So boarding is also good.
Home is better, but if you live in an apartment or in the city, I guess it is impossible, unless you turn one bedroom into a stall..... :)
When I grow up, I will have my own barn, and a farm to keep all my horses. But at 32, I am still working at growing up. :)
Have had my horses at home for 37 years. Boarded 11 years before having horse property. Boarding is not for me. It is too expensive and the care and feeding is not what I would give at home.
I like how you mentioned that you can spend more time riding, grooming, and working together with your horse if it is at home with you in a barn. Owning a horse barn or farm is a huge plus for horse owners because they can train and hang out with their horses every day. Thank you for emphasizing some of the benefits of having a horse farm.
