Its a good thought but really a lot of hassle when people don't want to follow rules, or PAY THEIR BOARD! Make sure you have a good contract that states what happens if they do not make their boarding payments. If your boarders bring out visitors make sure to have them sign a liability waver!
I AGREE PEOPLE ARE HAVING A HARD TIME PAYING BILLS THESE DAYS. NOT TO EVEN MENTION THE FACT OF BEING RESPONABLE FOR IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THEIR HORSE WHO IS RESPONABLE?? IT WOULD BE GOOD IF THERE WAS NOT SO MUCH INVOLVED, THE TIME YOU WOULD SPEND YOU COULD JUST BUY WHAT IT TAKES TO FEED THE ONES YOU HAVE
Good article and comments. Would anyone be willing to email a good contract to me to use as a template? Thanks, Don 334-791-9415
I currently board five horses at a place, all the boarding places I have either used or in the area, all let it known if you dont pay your board there is a late fee and if after a month your still behind then the horse goes to the local auction barn and is sold to try and get that money back that was owed. Very good way to not end up with abandoned horses. I recently watched one girl have to have her horse go to the sale cause she was behind on board. Where I currently board its the most reasonable and cheapest rate of most of them around and I no longer have to supply my own hay and grain, which some places do require or its a higher fee if they have to provide it.
