In its 101st year, the National Western Stock Show, Rodeo & Horse Show is preserving the western lifestyle Jan. 6-21 in Denver, Colo. With a professional rodeo, horse show, tradeshow and educational seminars, the National Western is the place to be this week.

Some of the new happenings this year: The Tough Enough to Wear Pink night on Jan. 7 had participants showing their support for breast cancer research and awareness by sporting their best pink western attire. Some of those dazzling pink outfits came from National Western tradeshow vendors. Part of the proceeds from pink product sales at the show are benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

On Jan. 13, 15 and 16, look for Entertainment to the Max, an event that’s sure to please rodeo fans with plenty of trick riding, roping and sharp shooting. And crowds will hear the thunder and see the excitement of The North American Six-Horse Hitch Classic Series Finals on Jan. 19, followed by the World Championship Class on Jan. 20.

The National Western Stock Show is noted for its livestock exhibits and this year is no exception. More than 15,000 head of horses, cattle, sheep, swine, goats, llamas, bison, yak, poultry and rabbits are all part of the show.
