The 2006 United States Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year, sponsored by Farnam, will be announced Jan. 13, at the USEF annual meeting. This prestigious title is given each year to the nation’s most exceptional horse. The decision is based on votes cast by members of the USEF, media and the USEF board of directors. The finalists are the showjumper Authentic, who was ridden by Beezie Madden to the team silver and individual silver medals at the World Equestrian Games; CH Callaway’s Copyright, the American Saddlebred who won a sixth straight Fine Harness World’s Grand Championship in 2006; Floriano, the flashy dressage horse that Steffen Peters piloted to help win a team bronze medal in dressage for the United States at the 2006 World Equestrian Games; reining horse Mister Nicadual, the horse that Tim McQuay rode at the 2006 World Equestrian Games to capture the individual silver medal and a team gold medal; and Selwood Park Deneuve, a pinto half-Andalusian mare who won three national championship titles this year.
