The American Paint Horse Association’s inaugural 2008 Fall Championship Show is underway November 6-15 in Ft. Worth, Texas, and this new Paint event has a lot on tap for breed enthusiasts. The show features added-money and jackpot classes, slot classes, select Challenge and Sweepstakes classes and World Championship title classes for weanling and yearling halter, yearling longe line and 2-year-old performance horses. The purpose of the new show is to provide a format that allows a longer period of time for young horses to mature before competing on a world-class level.

Several “dual-approved” classes are being offered at the event. All Fall Show reining classes are also approved with the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) and several hunter under saddle and Western pleasure classes are also approved with the National Snaffle Bit Association (NSBA).

Along with competitive classes, the event features the debut APHA Fall Championship Show Select Sale on November 8, where attendees can bid on top-bred Paint stock. At the Select Sale, bidders also have the opportunity to take home Gay Bars Christi, the American Paint Horse Foundation’s fundraiser filly. Originally donated by breeders Floyd and Maryann Moore of 6-J Paint Horses in Huntsville, Texas, proceeds from the sale of the royally-bred yearling will benefit the Foundation’s college scholarship program. The sorrel tobiano has been trained by Amy Andreson of the Barn at Cedar Hill in Cedar Hill, Texas, for yearling longe line, in-hand trail and halter classes and is currently learning under-saddle and ground-driving skills in preparation for her 2-year-old year.
