The 2008 Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic are being held in Ft. Worth

Cutting horse action has returned to the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas, with the Ford/National Cutting Horse Association Super Stakes and Super Stakes Classic, April 1 through April 20. The event has garnered more than 1,900 entries vying for $3.2 million in prize money.

The Super Stakes is an event for 4-year-old horses that are the offspring of nominated stallions. However, with more than 125 of the industry’s top sires on the list of nominees, the show is far from exclusive. Each stallion owner paid a minimum $3,500 to subscribe, the vast majority of which is added directly to the event’s purse. The Super Stakes Classic is for 5- and 6-year-old horses.

In addition to top-level competition, event attendees can shop for cutting horses during the NCHA Super Stakes Sales, April 18-19. A complete daily schedule of all the event’s action and list of classes are available on the NCHA website at www.nchacutting.com.
