American Morgan Horse Association convention begins today in California

The American Morgan Horse Association has invited owners and admirers of the Morgan breed to Sacramento, California for its annual convention. Attendees will have a full schedule of seminars, clinics and farm tours to choose from throughout the four-day convention.

On Thursday the convention offers two farm tours, each with a unique slate of presentations. The first tour includes stops at Woodland Stallion Station and Dragonfire Morgans. Topics of presentations on this tour include massage therapy, carriage driving, trail courses and Pony Club. Those who opt for this tour will have the chance to view a presentation on 3-day eventing by Olympic silver medalist Gina Miles. Miles will give a seminar on Morgans in the sport of eventing and will also share highlights of her trip to the 2008 Olympics.

The second tour includes visits to Garn Walker Stables and Futurity Farms. Topics on this tour include show ring turnout, western and hunt seat equitation and a western dressage presentation.

Additional seminars in a wide variety of subjects are available to attendees on Friday and Saturday. Topics include starting a lesson program, equine dentistry, trail and endurance riding and breed promotion. The convention offers youth seminars on the topics of equine industry careers, equine art and an “ask the judge” session.

Friday night’s award presentations and Saturday’s Stallion Service Auction and party give attendees a chance to let their hair down and socialize with other Morgan horse enthusiasts.
