Kentucky Horse Park will host a low-cost gelding clinic

The first step in reducing the problem of homeless horses is to reduce the number of excess foals born. The Kentucky Horse Park aims to help by offering a free gelding clinic this March. Gelding operations will be performed by licensed veterinarians or vet students under veterinary supervision for the cost of a $20 registration fee.

The gelding clinic will take place on March 10, and advanced registration is required. Horses must be at least 4 months of age, halter broke, and have a current Coggins and health certificate.

For registration information, contact Sheila Forbes, 859-233-4305 or Sheila.Forbes@ky.gov or visit kyhorsepark.com

The gelding clinic is part of the Unwanted Horse Coalition’s Operation Gelding initiative, which helps local groups across the country to organize their own low-cost gelding clinics. For more information on the program, visit www.unwantedhorsecoalition.org
