– Capping off a day of show jumping where rails were absolutely flying, New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson left them all up aboard Quimbo to clinch the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI**** championship.

Shane Brown returns to the winner’s circle at the Reining Freestyle World Championship

April 27, 2013
– For the second time in three years, Shane Brown won the World Championship Freestyle Reining tonight at the Kentucky Horse Park. He rode Shepherd Star to the title, receiving 228 points from the three judges.

Andrew Nicholson in first and second place after cross-country at the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

April 27, 2013
– A number of defections from the top of the leaderboard on cross-country day at the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day event put New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson into both first and second place going into show jumping on Sunday. Riding early in the day aboard Calico Joe, Nicholson put in a seemingly effortless double-clear round with no jumping or time penalties. His second mount, Quimbo, also blazed around the course full of run in the afternoon.

Shawn Flarida wins his third consecutive Kentucky Reining Cup

April 27, 2013
– Shawn Flarida earned the winner’s share of the $100,000 Kentucky Reining Cup at the Kentucky Horse Park, riding Wimps Quixote Cody to a score of 226.5. Andrea Fappani rode Star For The Chicks to second place (224.5), and Tom McCutcheon rode Pretty Peppy Chec to third place (221.0).

William Fox-Pitt in the lead after dressage at 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

April 26, 2013
– William Fox-Pitt of Great Britain blew the doors off the competition at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event on Friday afternoon. Riding Chilli Morning, a 13-year-old chestnut stallion who Fox-Pitt has only been riding for a year, he put in a beautiful and powerful test that vaulted them easily into the lead with a score of 33.3. However, this should come as no surprise to anyone who follows the Rolex Kentucky event.

– Reining fans can catch sliding, spinning action and many of the sport’s top superstars this weekend at the 2013 Kentucky Reining Cup. Held at the Kentucky Horse Park April 26-27, the reining competition takes place alongside the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

Andrew Nicholson in the lead after day one of 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

April 25, 2013
-The first day of dressage got under way at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event under sunny skies as 23 horse and rider pairs performed their tests. After being fifth to go in the morning, Andrew Nicholson of New Zealand and the 11-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Calico Joe scored a 40.8 that couldn’t be topped for the rest of the day.

All horses pass initial inspection at 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event

– Central Kentucky’s weather took an unhappy turn from warm and springlike to frigid, gray and windy. But that didn’t dampen the mood as competitors in the 2013 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event made their first official appearance before officials in Wednesday’s first horse inspection.

High-profile performers on the schedule for the 2013 Kentucky Reining Cup
April 16, 2013 – Three members of the United States’ 2010 Gold Medal World Championship team and four-time Grammy Award winner Lyle Lovett highlight the list of riders from the U.S., Canada and Italy entered to compete in the 2013 Kentucky Reining Cup which returns to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, April 26-27. The event is held alongside the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover, America’s only Four Star Eventing competition, April 25-28.

Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event celebrates 35 years in 2013
April 10, 2013 – It’s April, and that means that eventing fans in the U.S. are counting down the days until the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event. This year marks the 35th anniversary not only of the event, but of its host venue, the Kentucky Horse Park. In 1978, part of the Walnut Hill Standardbred farm was sold to the Commonwealth of Kentucky to become a working horse farm that would be open to the public. The park was intended to draw visitors to the “Horse Capital of the World” at a time when the area’s hallmark Thoroughbred farms were increasingly closing their doors to the public.
