CHS Inc has announced that it is voluntarily recalling its 50-pound packages of Kountry Buffet 14% Text and Provider 15% Pellet. Both of these products are for mature horses and other mature farm animals, such as sheep, cattle and goats. The recall is being issued due to excessive amounts of copper. The high levels of copper were discovered during routine samplings conducted by a third-party lab. To date, no illnesses or deaths have been reported.
The recalled products were manufactured at CHS Inc’s feed mill in Harrisburg, Oregon in September and October of 2015. Both products were packaged in brown bags. The Kountry Buffet 14% Text has a salmon-colored label and the Provider 15% Pellet has a yellow label. The products were distributed to 42 customers in Washington and Oregon. If you live in these states and have purchased the product, look for the following lot numbers, which are located at the bottom of the label:
