Iberian horses and their owners are gathering in Fort Worth, Texas, at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center, to compete in the prestigious 2007 International Andalusian Lusitano Horse Association National Championship Horse Show. English, western, in-hand and carriage-driving classes are part of the schedule, as well as Doma Vaquera classes that showcase the noble Spanish art of horsemanship.
There will also be a raffle horse offered to the public to help support International Andalusian Lusitano Horse Association (IALHA) programs and the National Show. The 2007 National Raffle Horse named Balachine CR is donated by Alexandra Dees of Cavalo Real Lusitanos.
Balachine CR (Pincelim II X Noventa Do Top) is a 2006 buckskin Lusitano gelding. His initial ground training and conditioning was provided by Bruce Howard and Nancy Nathanson from The Park in Santa Ynez, Calif. His estimated value is $15,000. Tickets are available through the IALHA office or through IALHA regional directors for $10 each or 11 for $100. Call or e-mail the IALHA to purchase your raffle ticket. Winners need not be present to win, but Balachine CR does have to leave for his new home by the last day of the show.
