Get your Quarter Horse Fix Three Times a Week in 2008

With the New Year comes new television programming. Beginning Jan. 2, the American Quarter Horse Association is moving its weekly television programming, “AQHA Presents …” to RFD-TV. The program will feature a combination of entertaining and informative shows with the industry’s top trainers, along with classic episodes of past AQHA television programming and competitions from the AQHA and alliance partners’ championship events.

“AQHA Presents . . .” airs three times weekly: Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern and Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. Eastern.

Featured in 2008 will be “AQHA Team Wrangler Presents,” a series of educational and entertaining shows featuring top AQHA Professional Horsemen and Horsewomen, all members of the AQHA Team Wrangler program. Episodes include:

  • “What’s it like to . . .” where Team Wrangler members give a one-on-one lesson from their discipline, such as cutting or roping, to a member of the AQHA publications staff.
  • “Trading Saddles” where Team Wrangler members trade places with another member of a different discipline — halter and speed event, western and English.
  • In addition, winners of online contests hosted on the AQHA’s website will have Team Wrangler members help with horse issues in “Fix My Horse;” prepping a horse for sale in “Sell My Horse;” and a lucky youth will get guidance in “Makeover My Horse.”

Viewers will also be treated to “Best of AQHA Events” drawn from the long-running “America’s Horse” series that began in 1986. Emphasis for the episodes will be on record-setting performances, many featuring American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame inductees such as Rugged Lark winning his two Superhorse titles at the AQHA World Championship Show; Jack Brooks winning his fifth, sixth and seventh All American futurities; Dash For Cash winning the Champion of Champions; early National Cutting Horse Association and National Reining Horse Association Futurity and Derby winning runs; trips to Best Remuda Award winning ranches and much more.

Rounding out the year will be coverage of AQHA’s World Championship events including the Ford AQHYA World Championship Show, Bayer Select, Bank of America Amateur and FedEx Open AQHA World Championship Show, and Fort Dodge Versatility Ranch Horse World Championship Show, along with major events produced by AQHA Alliance Partners NCHA, NRHA and National Reined Cow Horse Association.
