MD Barns Silver Spur Award Nominees Narrowed to Five

The MD Barns Silver Spur Award honors American Quarter Horses that positively affect the lives of humans through outstanding training, contribution or accomplishment. Although it’s too late to nominate horses for the 2007 Award, it’s not too late to vote for a winner!

According to Jennifer K. Hancock, director of media relations and communications specialist for the American Quarter Horse Association, there are many incredible nominees this year.

“We received more than 50 nominations from AQHA members across the world for horses with inspirational stories,” Hancock says. “Members shared stories of horses that have triumphed over devastating injuries and circumstances, horses that have enriched children’s lives, horses that have truly changed people’s lives and horses that have embodied the characteristics of a best friend. The stories are a moving tribute to the special powers that horses possess and the impact that these great animals have on so many lives.”

Out of the 50 nominees, five finalists were selected by a panel of judges outside the AQHA and MD Barns. Now that the field’s been narrowed, it’s your turn to vote for a winner.

The top five finalists are posted on the AQHA’s website. If you’re an AQHA member, you can log onto the site through Dec. 31 and pick your favorite. Your votes determine the lucky winner, who will receive a specially designed Montana Silversmiths belt buckle and a $25,000 MD Barns gift certificate. The first and second runners-up will receive a specially designed Montana Silversmiths belt buckle as well as other AQHA Corporate Partner products.
