Great article and so true! I've always been a pleasure rider and just did my first schooling show last weekend. My goal was to go and have fun and do my best. While we didn't get any blue ribbons, my mare was angel and now I know for sure what we need to work on.
Well done. Great read for those just starting out and a reminder to those that may have gotten wrapped up in to "blue mode". Although blue is a great thing, our true goal is great horsemanship and a growing relationship with our horses leading to excellence on ALL levels. Doing your best and learning everyday, especially if it is at a show, is a great mindset to enter a class with. Take the the pressure off and enjoy the ride. The results will be what they are depending on the day. When competing, compete with yourself. Focus, direction, clarity, patience and feel. A better you is always a win for you and your horse!
