This is a very good article! I'm glad I had a chance to read it! It gives a great picture of how horses should be groomed before they enter the arena. Would like to have seen how to groom for halter shows though!
I have seen a lot of articles on Western Grooming and Dressage. How about gaited horse classes! Let's see more about the Tennessee Walkers!
Great article! I found it useful! I wasn't sure of the differences between the hunter and dressage manes. Im still curiouse what the breed exseptions are. Would a clydesdale have different braids in the mane? Are they allowed to go natural at all? Im starting to show my clyde mare soon, but I really dont want to cut her mane.
All in all the hunter section is good, but the information about braiding isn't really correct/up to date. Hunters are usually braided in "hunter braids", not button braids. Button braids are acceptable for jumpers, though. When a horse is braided with "hunter braids" there are usually anywhere from 30 to 40 braids. Braiders try to get an odd number of braids on the horse to avoid a "split neck". And the price range for hunter braids is usually more in the $40 to $50 range.
a useful article, although i've always thought that competition in the horse world puts too much credit on the entrants' appearance...
