Yes, it is hard to part with such a part of your life. But now they, (the boots) get to become the part of someone else's show career. they go on in your honor. Now the western life style has taken over, only to be replaced by a different style of both boots and riding. Life goes on. Remember, never ride faster than you angel can fly.
That's such a nice story. I know I have a favorite pair of boots that have seen me through thick and thin. Luckily, they still have a few years left because they are more comfortable then any other show I own. Thanks for sharing Cindy!
We do get attached to horse stuff. I still have the nameplate from my first horse's halter. When I look at it I remember how excited I was to get a fancy halter.
"Bird Legs"... ha, there's a creative name. Don't feel bad, though. I'm sure there are more people like you out there somewhere. In fact, I know there is, because I got this real old pair of tall boots off e-bay and the size is technically right, but i can't get them on past my ankles! lol I hope I can find someone to buy them, 'cause I just bought a trailer and I'm broke!
My friend said that she knew someone who had custom made boots. One day she was compeating in a three day event and on the first day she couldn't get the boots off! I guess she had to sleep in them...
