There's this horse at the barn named Valentine. My mom wanted to feed him a treat so she started unwrapping a peppermint. Valentine popped up his head at the first crinkle and SPIT OUT THE MOUTHFUL OF HAY HE WAS EATING! He is spoiled I tell you!
I'm glad that horses do have such an acute sense of hearing. It adds to their personality. My horse is almost completely blind, so he relies on his hearing and sense of touch more, which is great because he doesn't have much trouble getting around, but it can also be a pain because he'll randomly spook at things that nobody else hears, and if the other horses see him spooking, then they get all worked up, too.
