Mine is definetly a Dog-Horse :) he enjoys pulling apart his groom bin when no ones looking and chewing the rubber on the cross-ties :P also, if we are paying attention the the real dog, spike, he gets jealous and has to butt in an bite spike hahaha
Mt horse is defiantly a Dog- horse. he is always looking for treats and attention, and would cuddle up with you if he could
My horse Shawnee is a "Dog-Horse", she follows me everywhere for a treat and she gets into mischief every chance she gets. She pulls the water heater out of the water tank, pulls the electrical cord out of the socket, jumps the fence to get into the garden, climbs over the round bale holder to get into the middle and climbs into the water tank. Every day its an adventure with her!
all 3 of my equines -- 2 appaloosas and 1 mule are closer to dog personalities. They watch the goings on outside their pasture like we were a t.v. show put here for their entertainment. The mule especially craves human attention.
my appaloosa mare is mainly a dog horse but is sometimes grumpy and full of herself like a cat horse.
THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS. ONE OTHER WAY THAT WALLY IS A CAT-HORSE IS THAT HE'S OFTEN ALOOF AND IN HIS OWN WORLD. BUT IF SOMETHING UNUSUAL GET HIS ATTENTION, HE GETS ALL PUFFED UP AND ALERT, JUST LIKE A CAT. IF HE WERE A CAT, HE'D ARCH HIS BACK AND GO, "PFFFF-TAH!" AND MAKE THAT CAT-LIKE SPITTING SOUND.... BEFORE HE SPRINGS INTO ACTION AND NEARLY DUMPS ME.
I love this article. I would have never thought about it, but it is so true. My two horses are dog-horses, but I know some cat-horses. Maybe its just my personality, but I like dog-horses much better.
Wow, this is interesting. The horse I'm currently riding is definitely a dog-horse. She is very people-oriented, likes to untie herself from the hitching-rail, and LOVES getting scratched (and using you as a scratching post--whoops, that's a cat term, isn't it?). The funny thing is, I have a fav cat that is DEFINITELY catty--but I love his guts. And our other cat is actually DOG-y. Likes playing with fav toy, performing tricks (on is own accord), loves attention. Things aren't always as they seem, I guess.
