Wow--the last picture is gorgeous. The horse is breath-takingly beautiful. What a transformation indeed !
Love the pics. It's amazing to see what was and wasn't allowed in the show rings at that time. I wish they would allow a little more flair to the outfits. I mean really, the better you think you look the better you're going to ride anyways, so I see no harm in a little color.
Cindy's sister in: How much of a fashion diva did my darling sister become? Well, let's just say that one time I talked (OK, nagged) her into taking her beloved Hammie to a jumper jackpot with me and my horse, and you cannot believe how well she matched herself to that bay horse, right down to adding turquoise and silver conchos to his (brown, with shades of cream) Navajo saddle pad and brown (with cream sheepskin lining) grand prix boots to match her turquoise earrings and beading on her brown (with shades of cream) shirt. When I told a mutual friend about this, she said, "Oh, I do that, too." I said: "You mean you hot glue conchos on your saddle pad and horse's boots to match your shirt and earrings??" Long pause, then: "No, I don't go that far."
HI EVERYONE! THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS. I READ THEM ALL... INCLUDING THE ONES LEFT BY MY SISTER! I'LL DO A LITTLE SELF-ANALYSIS AND JUST SAY THAT MAYBE I WAS OVER-COMPENSATING A LITTLE BECAUSE I STARTED OUT WEARING SUCH DREADFUL HAND-ME-DOWNS IN THE SHOW RING. SO I ALWAYS FELT THIS NEED TO LOOK SUPER DUPER SNAZZY. I MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN RIDING THE FASTEST JUMPER OR THE ONE THAT JUMPED WITH THE FEWEST FAULTS, BUT WE SURE LOOKED GOOD, ESPECIALLY WITH THE TURQUOISE AND CONCHOS! LOL! AS FOR THE LAST PHOTO HERE, THAT'S A DUTCH AND TRAKEHNER-CROSS WARMBLOOD MARE MY MOM RAISED. SHE WAS A FABULOUS MOVER AND WON TONS OF HUNTER UNDER SADDLE CLASSES AND WAS A WONDERFUL EQUITATION HORSE. BUT SHE DIDN'T HAVE THE WORLD'S BEST JUMPING STYLE FOR HUNTERS. BUT AGAIN, WE SURE LOOKED PRETTY, RIGHT? HA!
