If what you're feeling is paranoia, I'm right there with you. Why take the chance? My stable has instituted a no new horses in and if you leave, you can't come back until the outbreak is under control. Which does make me wonder, where will the horses at Thermal go if they can't go home? Our barn was really looking forward to going to Thermal for the second half of the series. But we most certainly will not go if there are still active cases. Why on earth would you risk your horse for a ribbon??
Thanks for the update on this year's cases. I hope that they get this resolved and there are no more deaths from it. Prayers to everyone envoled.
THANKS, MARION, FOR YOUR KIND THOUGHTS! CHRISTIE, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU, ESPECIALLY SINCE I'VE HEARD "THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE" THAT HORSES CONTINUE TO COME AND GO--ALTHOUGH QUIETLY--FROM SO-CALLED QUARANTINED FACILITIES. PLUS, HORSES BROUGHT TO HITS/THERMAL/INDIO PRIMARILY TO BE SOLD ARE OCCASIONALLY STABLED AT THE POLO GROUNDS (WHERE THE HORSE DIED) AND SHIPPED INTO THE SHOW FOR A DAY SO IT CAN BE TRIED AND SEEN BY POTENTIAL BUYERS. SURE, THAT'S BEEN STOPPED. BUT WHAT ABOUT PEOPLE WHO COME AND GO BACK AND FORTH? THEY COULD POTENTIALLY BECOME CONTAMINATED AND CARRY THE ACTIVE VIRUS BACK TO OTHER HORSES AT THE SHOW. IT'S SIMPLY WISER IN THE LONG RUN TO STAY HOME. THERE'S ALWAYS ANOTHER SHOW... THERE WON'T ALWAYS BE ANOTHER HORSE LIKE THE ONE YOU LOVE.
