Welcome to Horse Illustrated’s weekly installment of the My Right Horse Adoptable Horse of the Week, offered in partnership with The Right Horse. Big Jake is this week’s adoptable horse. Check back weekly for a new featured horse so you can find your #righthorse.

Horse: Big Jake, a 15-hand 22-year-old gray Rocky Mountain Horse gelding in Ravenna, Ohio
Organization: Happy Trails Farm Animal Sanctuary

Big Jake is a friendly gelding that enjoys attention and people. This pretty guy is a silver/chocolate dapple and has been shown by the previous owner. Jake does have some arthritis in his hind end, but he will hopefully continue to respond well to Equioxx. There are X-rays available, and staff at Happy Trails feel he will be suitable for moderate riding. He rides around well, but he is sensitive to pressure and has forward movement, so he is best suited for a confident beginner or intermediate or more experienced rider. Jake would be an amazing trail mount and is a blast to ride! Add this pretty guy to your herd today. Could he be your #righthorse?
