Horse: Dakota, an 18-year-old 15.3-hand gray American Paint Horse gelding in Fort Worth, Texas
Adoption Organization: Humane Society of North Texas
Meet Dakota! This handsome fellow is the whole package. He is very sweet and has impeccable ground manners. Relationships really matter to this guy, so a quiet home with someone who wants to build a bond and has only geldings might be the best life for Dakota. We consider him at this time to be an intermediate-level riding horse. Dakota is sensitive about his ears and poll area, so he will need someone patient and understanding to help him work through it. He has been seen by an equine massage therapist (Tiffany Darr with Equine Synergy, Fort Worth) who has helped him relax his muscles all over, allowing him to release a lot of built-up tension. He is quite responsive to the bit and requires very little pressure, as he works more off of leg aids. He needs a balanced rider with light hands and adequate leg control. His abilities suggest he has been taught how to do a lot in his past! Dakota will also need a properly fitting saddle and pads to ensure his comfort, given his very high withers and slightly swayed back. Dakota is up to date on all vaccinations, Coggins, dental care, and farrier work. Please fill out an interest in adoption application to learn more and schedule an appointment.
