My Right Horse Adoptable Horse of the Week: Two Bow Ties — September 8, 2020

Horse: Two Bow Ties, a 7-year-old 16-hand bay Thoroughbred mare in Elkton, Md.
Organization: After the Races

Two Bow Ties is a beautiful 7-year-old bay mare retiring by way of Aftercare Charles Town, who stands around 16 hands. She last raced in August of 2019 after only five career starts. She came from caring owners who gave her plenty of time off when she injured a tendon. When she came back to race in August of 2019, they were concerned she may have strained it again and decided to retire her back to the farm. She has had plenty of time off and was in excellent care as can be seen in her photos. This granddaughter of Lion Heart is extremely fancy— both in looks and in movement. She is worth a look for a serious adult amateur or professional alike. She also showed up at After the Races in good spirits with good handling skills. She’s been easy to work around and has been turned out with other mares with no issues. She has no vices and is currently barefoot and has great feet, so we hope she can remain barefoot as she gets put back to work. The vet found no issues with Two Bow Ties. She presented sound, fancy, and uncomplicated. There are no concerns about her previous her tendon injury. We’ve just begun riding her, and while she was a bit nervous her first time being ridden in over a year, she tries very hard and wants to please. She will need someone experienced to get her going, but should do great once back in a program. Two Bow Ties is currently available for $2,000 until she gets further into work.
