While they may be a picturesque rustic addition to the island fauna, I suspect that these unmanaged animals pose a threat to the island's ecosystems and, in the long run, control will be needed. Since some of these are branded, they are not all feral but are simply loose livestock and a danger to the motorist . My feeling is that they, like feral dogs or cats, should be controlled. This is a question that should be addressed by the Vieques government.
