I’ve been reading a lot about War Horse lately. People who follow the movie industry seem to think it’s got a shot at an Oscar nomination. The highly-anticipated screen adaptation of the stage adaptation of the novel will be out on Christmas. If you can’t wait ‘til then to get your new-horse-movie fix, there is another film that was released in limited markets last week.
The Greening of Whitney Brown stars Brooke Shields, Kris Kristofferson, Aiden Quinn, and a clever Gyspy horse named Odd Job Bob. Let’s cut to the chase: this film is not going to go head-to-head with War Horse in the Oscar race. In fact, it’s getting pretty much universally panned by critics. However, judging from the preview, if you do decide to go see this film, you will probably at least be able to appreciate the amount of training that must have gone into Bob’s training. I’m going to predict that he easily steals the show.
Hey, if you find yourself stuck trying to find entertainment for your young cousins over Thanksgiving weekend, better this than Twilight, right?
