My #1 winter annoyance has to do with bareback riding(who wants to bother with a saddle in winter? Plus, we benifit from each other's body heat!). When I dismount, the static electricity/friction from my dismount zaps him and makes him think I'm the I-Zap-U-B4-I-Eat-U Monster!
You forgot frozen water troughs breaking ice is not my favorite chore plus walking on frozen horse manure balls
I use a great homemade spray all year that seems to be preventing the static issue and makes brushing my Haflinger's thick mane a breeze. 4T fractionated coconut oil (stays liquid), 2tsp vegetable glycerin, 1/2tsp essential oils (antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, insect repellant), and 4 cups water. (The recipe calls for distilled, but I use tap.) He doesn't get greasy or slick, either. I don't blanket, so don't know if this would help with this, but it's worth a try?
