Hello and happy Friday, everyone! Here are some conversation starters for your group trail ride this weekend.

My favorite story of the week is about this Morgan horse in Amish country who has charmed tellers at the local bank into giving him sugar cubes every time his owner takes him through the drive-up banking window. I think my horse would be terrified by a pneumatic tube, but he’d get over it pretty quickly once he learned there was sugar inside for him.

The legality of riding your horse while intoxicated seems to vary by state and circumstance. Just to be on the safe side, maybe don’t do it. The police don’t care if your “horse knows the way home” or not.
Congrats to Scottish rider Scott Brash and Hello Sanctos for being the first-ever winners of show jumping’s Rolex Grand Slam.

In this week’s stolen horse news:
- A Chincoteague foal was stolen from the Chincoteague fairgrounds last week. Our own Kitson Jazynka covers the story in the Over the Fence blog.
- A 2-year-old Clydesdale has gone missing from a central Minnesota farm. This is not confirmed as a theft, but the owners say no fences were down.
- NetPosse.com, a resource for owners of lost and stolen horses, is now accepting lost and found reports for all types of animals when those animals become separated from their owners due to wildfires or other emergencies.
And finally, you can take your horse anywhere in Ireland, it seems. HorseChannel’s Cari Jorgensen brings us some apparently unrelated cases of horses showing up where horses don’t belong in Ireland. Good times.
