I have always ridden my horse bareback. I actually prefer it to ridding with a saddle. I have been riding my her like that since she was 2.
This November is especially difficult for me as I begin my first November without my beloved horse Thumper, but I started today (Nov. 2nd) bareback on a friend's saint of a mare. We didn't ride long and I still mourn for my boy, but it is important to get back on. I will stand with you this month (no matter how much our legs quiver) and drop those stirrups, because it is never too late to become a better rider.
Outstanding! The principals of accountability. I loved reading this! It's real. The accountability thing is not just about showing up. It's about having fun and letting loose and being yourself. Be happy, be strong and be bright NSNP!Love, Tom Dorio November Project San Diego
That's such a good idea! I'll join the challenge ;) (though I only ride once a week because my horse is sick, but I found a horse to ride on Wednesdays) Thanks for this brilliant article!
What a great challenge! I'm up to it. My OTTB will come to a screeching halt and stand there when the stirrups are dropped so I don't see any problem riding without stirrups. Think we are good.
Do western riders ever do this? I ride western but I plan on doing this to improve my balance and strength. I have to post on my bumpy horse anyways
I'm doing it! Said goodbye to my stirrups yesterday, They are hanging in the tack. Ride 2 today was interesting...had a hard time mounting as my legs are so sore!
