NCHA Summer Cutting Spectacular is Underway in Texas

Cutting competitor at NCHA FuturityThe numbers are in and the final gem of the National Cutting Horse Association’s Triple Crown of Cutting has attracted more than 1,600 entries.  The Summer Cutting Spectacular presented by Great American Insurance runs July 11 – 31 at Will Rogers Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.

Classes begin daily at 8 a.m. with free admission to the public excluding the finals nights, July 30 and 31.  Admission to the finals starts at only $8.  A complete daily schedule and list of classes are available on the NCHA Web site at www.nchacutting.com.

There will also be plenty of activities for the National Youth Cutting Horse Association members throughout this 19-day show, as well as a sponsors’ cutting July 23.

NCHA will host a “Cuttin’ Out Hunger” food drive Friday, July 16, at the office in Fort Worth.  All donations will benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank which serves Fort Worth and 13 neighboring counties.  Everyone is encouraged to stop by the office at 260 Bailey Ave between noon and 8 p.m. to help fill the horse trailer.

The Western Mercantile, presented by Coors Light, is back in full swing for the duration of the show.  Exhibitors featuring the latest trends in Western clothing, tack, jewelry, home décor, and more will fill the Amon G. Carter Exhibit Hall. Admission is free and the doors open at 9 a.m. daily.

Western Bloodstock will start the Summer Spectacular auction at 9 a.m., July 31.  Only 125 select horses will sell on the derby finals day.  The first 17 horses, comprising the first of two sale sessions, are consigned by Sunrise Ranch, LLC, as a special production offering.

The Summer Spectacular includes a derby for 4-year-old horses and a classic challenge for 5- and 6-year-old horses.
