Budweiser Clydesdales and Lost Puppy Star in 2015 Super Bowl Commercial

Anheuser-Busch has released its 2015 Super Bowl commercial featuring the Budweiser Clydesdales, and as predicted, it’s a tear-jerker. Take a look.

This commercial rounds out a trilogy of commercials featuring actor Don Jeanes as a Clydesdale breeder/trainer. In 2013’s Brotherhood, we watch the bond between trainer and horse grow from a foal’s first moment to when he’s sold to be part of Budweiser’s iconic hitch. The pair are later reunited in dramatic fashion when the horse recognizes his human buddy in the crowd at a parade.

In 2014’s Puppy Love, a neighborhood puppy visits the ranch and befriends a Clydesdale there. When the puppy is sold, the Clydesdale and his friends spring to action, chasing down the car and silently expressing a pretty persuasive argument for why the puppy should stay at the ranch.

In 2015, the puppy and the Clydesdales are back, but the wandering puppy has gotten lost. But when he finds himself in serious danger, his friends are there to bring him home.

Budweiser’s Clydesdales have been the Super Bowl audience favorite for many years. Last fall, the Wall Street Journal published an article suggesting that the Clydesdales would no longer be seen in the Super Bowl ads, leading fans of the horses (if not the beer) to protest. Fortunately, the rumor was never true—while Budweiser has shifted its advertising strategy in an attempt to reach a younger audience, the Clydesdales remain.
