Although the United States Pony Club is traditionally associated with young junior riders, things may be changing. At the Board of Governors meeting last May, the USPC Adult Horsemasters Program received formal approval. The goal is not to get horse show moms and dads in the saddle at three-day events or pony club trials. Instead, it’s hoped that more adults will become savvy around their kids’ horses and ponies, learning hands-on horse care and basic riding skills. With newfound knowledge and enthusiasm, this should create another crop of potential Pony Club instructors at the regional and local level.
