In the sport of team chasing, a group of four horse-and-rider pairs navigate a course of cross-country obstacles. The third rider’s finish time is recorded as the team’s finish to determine the final placings (the fourth rider is there in case one of the other riders on the team falls or withdraws.) In this group, the third horse in line is a pinto pony named Basil, and his rider opted to add to the challenge by riding side saddle.
