Spectators at a Southern California Reined Cow Horse Association show back in May of 2015 witnessed a pretty incredible sight: A well-trained horse working a cow without a rider.
The 8-year-old mare, Shine Di Light, parted company with her rider, but that didn’t stop her from getting the job done. Watch her at work:

WOW and even gets all her leads right! Nice Mare!
Well trained and knows her job! Hope the rider was okay.
Just goes to show that it’s all the horse! 🙂
That horse is a “team” all by herself. Trainer/rider did a great job, but it has to be in the horse, too.
That’s a natural! Bred to be a cow horse! Work it Mare!
Just had to come on over and watch it again! This horse just loves his/her job so much! A true athlete.
Now there’s a horse who’s happy with his job!
That is one well bred NCHA baby! WOW!
Smart little cow horse for sure!
That’s how it’s done!
