Welcome to Horse Illustrated’s weekly installment of the My Right Horse Adoptable Horse of the Week, offered in partnership with The Right Horse. Lena is this week’s adoptable horse. Check back weekly for a new featured horse so you can find your #righthorse.

Horse: Lena, a 12-year-old 15-hand bay grade mare in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Organization: Nexus Equine

Lena has experience on the trails and knows all of her basics on the ground and under saddle. She prefers an easy, lazy ride without many frills; she does have a go button when asked. An intermediate rider would get along very well with Lena and could continue her training in just about any direction. Lena is currently learning how to better listen to her rider when asked to complete anything other than basic tasks under the saddle and learning how to be patient when standing tied. She’s also learning that being away from her friends is okay. Lena spent several weeks at a local riding stable and did great; she loves hitting the trails. She is currently working with riding students of all skill levels and does great but would benefit most with an intermediate rider or someone with a trainer to take her to the next level. She is going to make someone an excellent horse for the trails or any other discipline they want to do! Lena is current on: vaccines, coggins, worming, dental and farrier work and is microchipped.
